LIBERTY KIDS: FAMILY WORSHIP TIME

WHAT IS FAMILY WORSHIP TIME?

We begin our services with a 20-30 minute worship time. At Liberty, we invite families to worship together including adults and children. After you check your child in, if your child is in the early elementary classroom or older elementary classroom, they will stay with you in the sanctuary so they can worship with you as a family. We will have a dismissal for the kids to go back to the classrooms during the offering break. The nursery and preschool class are open the entire service time. Due to this younger age group, we understand that family worship time may not be conducive to their individual needs and attention spans.

WHY DO WE VALUE FAMILY WORSHIP TIME?

Many church structures separate the kids and youth from the adults during the entire service time. At Liberty, intimacy with God and learning how to experience and connect with Him on a personal level is foundational to our "DNA." For this reason, we encourage family worship time! We believe that children NEED to see their parents and caregivers worshipping God. We also believe that children can experience God's presence in a real and tangible way. They can connect with God personally themselves, no matter what their age is! We also want to empower parents to teach their children about God and how to worship. We love teaching your children about God in our classrooms, but you as a primary caregiver have the greatest influence in their lives! Family worship time is a great teaching moment for parents to model their faith.

WHAT IF MY CHILD ISN'T QUIET AND WONT SIT STILL DURING WORSHIP?

Our answer is, perfect! We encourage children to be children! Remember, God designed children to be active, to absorb their environment, and to explore the world around them. We understand how stressful it can be as a parent or caregiver, especially in an environment not designed for kids. Please know that family worship time was designed with families in mind! We welcome children, even wiggly ones, and see them as a blessing, not a nuissance.

At Liberty, we encourage people to move around during worship as freely as they feel led to. Encourage your children to clap with you, to dance, and to sing. During quieter prayer times, pray personally with your child, hold them, walk around with them, and explain to them what is going on all around them and on stage. If you do need to step out of family worship time to comfort your child, feel free to step into the lobby area. For security reasons, we do ask that you stay with your children at all times. Please do not let them run around the sanctuary or leave them unattended. We want them to be safe at all times!
